Story feels honest, performances are raw and compelling. However, i was grateful that the film was devoid of the usual pile of idiots who are blind to the obvious. In other words, the types of characters that have to do certain things to move plot points:

No big budget effects but the supernatural elements are presented well enough by the entire cast. Meh, it passed the time. The movie is in the spirit of those overplotted 1940s crime movies where the hero's dilemma is so baffling that it seems impossible for him to escape;

Because there is only one time line? Easy on the eyes leading lady is likeable and grows on you. Having alex as the homicide detective assigned to the case is a fine twist, and affects her in personal and professional ways.
